War Tourist is an immersive film I shot in and around Mosul during the offensive to retake the city. Though the film takes on a very personal, first person driven narrative and critique of the way war images are manipulated and sold through the media machinery, admittedly there is so much I have yet to learn about conflict and human behavior. Being feet away from snipers, tanks, bullets meant for me and suicide bombers certainly made me respect those who enter the fog of war and come back as decent men. More importantly, it made me more certain than ever that war should not be an option to solve disputes among us. It is the end of all sanity. The film is being released by RYOT films and won awards at Cannes and Dubai.
